Karnataka BJP MLCs create ruckus over 'permission for worshipping Hindu gods' in public places

Bengaluru, Jul 12 (IANS): BJP MLCs on Wednesday stormed into the well of the Legislative Council condemning a police notice to a cow vigilante which sought to know whether he had taken permission from authorities for conducting Nag devta puja in public.

BJP MLC Y. A. Narayanaswamy raised the issue of Puneeth Kerehalli, a Hindu activist who was served notice by the police department. Kerehalli had organised a special worship programme of Nag devta in Bengaluru.

The BJP MLCs raised slogans against the Congress government and demanded that the police officer who served the notice should be suspended.

Amid ruckus, Chairperson Basavaraj Horatti adjourned the House for 10 minutes.

Narayanaswamy maintained that the issue has hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus.

Senior BJP leader Kota Srinivas Poojari questioned does one needs permission to perform worship, and demanded suspension of the police officer, after which the Chairperson asked BJP members to calm down.

When chaos continued, the Chairperson stood up and warned that the rules of the House need to be followed and asked them to listen the government's reply.

Revenue Minister Krishna Bhyregowda said sentiments of opposition leaders have to be respected and the matter would be brought to the notice of the state Home minister and answer would be given as early as possible.

Not satisfied with the assurance, Kota Srinivas Poojari asked that if permission is required to worship Hindu gods, how people can take this matter lightly and demanded an immediate answer, to which Horatti said it is not tenable to demand immediate answers.

The House will be led as per the rules, the Chairperson said.

Minister Krishna Bhyregowda stated that there is provision of two days to reply to the issues raised in zero hour.

Slamming Poojari, the Chairperson said that he did not expect this kind of behavior from the senior member.

Hitting out at the BJP leaders, Bhyregowda said: "These people have destroyed the state legislature. They had looted the state. There is nothing beyond the politics for them.

Kerehalli is an accused in a murder case and is currently out on bail.

There are praying Places- temple for Hindus, church for Christians, Mosque for Muslims, In addition to it , one can pray in their own house. One should not be allowed to occupy public place for praying. Keep your praying within you or go to the designated place like church, temple and mosque. Please do not disturb public. Let them earn their living. The temple, church and mosques are running with the hard work and contribution from the public respectively. Please do not pull religion to politics.

Why should be the Police officer should be dismissed ?He has done his duty and when it is not ,it will be rejected.Thats all. When any Gods in public places to worship I find they need one .Public places are reserved for Public to move about make trade or other opportunities. When a special worship or any other celebration to be done it disturbs normal flow so a permission is a must as I think .Because of that they need not sturm in counsil meeting.Simply uneducated ones ,trouble makers.

Holy Scripture says All are gods or You are gods, Children of the Most High then dont understand why animals also should be included or made gods ? God has said only humans are gods and not animals, as humans are created in His Image and likeness!

Does Mr. Narayanaswamy pray to god ? I bet he doesn't. And Mr. Narayanaswamy what about so many poor people struggling with water flooding their house during rainy season. Do you even think about it ? Just by working idols our problems won't solve. God has given us opportunity to improve our condition.
