Mumbai, Jul 29: The 8th All India Kannada Cultural Convention will be held under the aegis of metro-based Kannada Sangh ® and Mangalore-based ‘Hrudaya Vahini’, Kannada bulletin at Billava Bhavan, Santa Cruz (East), from Saturday August 6 to Sunday August 7.
“Dharmapal Devadiga has been selected honorary chairman of the convention committee,” said Manjunat Sagar, president of the committee.
Devadiga hails from Kaup, Udupi district. He is the son of Ummanna and Appi Serigar and migrated to the metro in search of better prospects after his early studies in Kaup.
Devadiga pursued his studies while working in an engineering company. With his vast experience in the engineering field, he opened his own business – Satyanarayan Industrial Supplies - in the central suburb of Ambarnath. The enterprise grew to manufacture quality products and earned international acclaim. He has provided jobs to hundreds of unemployed youth through his enterprise.
He has served the Devadiga Sangh in various capacities for over a decade and was instrumental in the construction of the Devadiga Bhavan in Nerul, Navi Mumbai.
Devadiga also serves as vice-president of Jayasrikrishna Parisara Premi Samiti (NGO) striving for the development of undivided Dakshina Kannada district. He renders his selfless service to Rotary Club of Mulund and many social welfare organizations.
He has bagged several awards, including ‘Udyog Ratna’, ‘Samaj Ratna’, and ‘Aryabhata’. He was felicitated by Swami Vishveshateerta of Pejavar Mutt in recognition of his social service. He was the vice-president of Vishwa Tulu Sammelan held in Ujire, Beltangady district, a few years ago.
