Udupi: Violent weather in sea - Outstation state fish in demand

Udupi, Jul 22: Violent weather in Arabian Sea continued on Friday also. Traditional fishing boats did not venture into the sea over the same reason.

A week ago, traditional fishermen caught huge catch of prawns, mackerels. Their hopes were very high that they can earn good income this year. However, the inclement weather dampened their hopes again. From the past four days, they are waiting at Malpe port to get into the sea.

Sundar P Salian, traditional fisherman says, “Till the wind and water turbulence comes to normal level, it is not possible for country boats to do fishing. There is a possibility that the inclement weather will continue for another two days.”

As the country boats did not go for fishing for the past four days, there is severe shortage of fish at Malpe port market. Sea food lovers are buying fish from outstation states and the ones that are frozen.
