Mangaluru: Theft in used car showroom at Suratkal – Accused arrested

Mangaluru, Jul 25: Police arrested Mohammed Shafeeq (21), a resident of Kinnipadavu on the accusation of stealing two cars and other valuables from the used car showroom at Suratkal on July 12.

The thieves who arrived on a two-wheeler to the used car showroom wearing helmet, raincoat, hand gloves and mask, had entered the showroom by breaking open the glass door with an hammer. They took away a mobile phone, a laptop, printer, a Hyundai Creta and Maruti Swift car each.

Shafeeq was arrested near Marakada bus stand as he was travelling by a two-wheeler. The Creta car was recovered from Thokottu bus stand.

The police also confiscated a two-wheeler Shafeeq stole from a house at Kesarugadde under Moodbidri police station limits a year ago. The accused was produced in court and is sent to judicial custody.

Suratkal police inspector Mahesh Prasad, PSIs Raghu Nayak, Arun Kumar, ASI Taranath, head constables Annappa, Umesh, constables Kartik, Sunil, Manjunatha and Nagaraja took part in the operation.
