Udupi: College management clarifies on students' video captured in washroom

Udupi, Jul 25: College administration has issued a clarification in connection with the alleged students video in the college washroom.

Addressing a press briefing here on Tuesday, July 25, Rashmi, director of the college said, "Mobiles are not allowed in college, but as soon as we learned about the incident we have enquired from the students. Based on the investigations, students have been suspended as disciplinary action. They have also apologised for their mistake. Immediately on the next day police have been informed. The police also arrived at our college and another round of investigation was carried out with the students in presence of their parents. We have given the mobile phones to the police for  investigation.  Our aim is to give good health workers to society. We never allow mobile phones to avoid such indecent incidences. It is my responsibility to ensure safety of the students."

Rashmi said, "Victim has denied to file a case during police intervention. She said that it's the question of her and other students' future is involved in this incident. The students have clearly stated that it was made for fun only. They have submitted a apology as well for the same.".

Replying to the social media rumours Rashmi said, "Don't spread falsehood and confusing messages without proper knowledge on social media. Don't spread any misinformation. As a legal advice we have handed over the phones to the police. We are not supporting anyone in this matter."

Balakrishna, academic coordinator, told reporters that,  "Victims approached us and informed us. There is communal angle. The other students of the culprit's religion have protested against this incident. As we did not have any solid visible proof we handed over the phones to the police to take further action."

Rajeep Mondal, principal, was also present on the occasion.

@ Vicky, Ras al Khaimah "Strict should be taken against the culprits and they should not be allowed to take admission in any educational institutions." No doubt the culprit needs to be punished and give time to reform his mistakes. But debarring from further studies is not justified.

@ Vicky, Ras al Khaimah " they should not be allowed to take admission in any educational institutions." For the mistakes they can be punished and there is a way to reform them but why to debar them from their further studies. Who gave you such idea? I know.🕺

Management has the responsibility to ensure that no student is harassed in the college by teachers, staff or fellow students. When this incident came to light, they should have filed criminal case against the rogue female students who a filmed a female classmate in the washroom... Since this is a criminal act taken place in institute, they should file the complaint, they should not wait for victim to file the complaint... if the cannot control criminal tendency of students, they are unfit to run a college...

What hypocrites are living in our midst!!!

People..please have the same criteria for evaluation. You can't just film private moments in the bathroom and publish it.. now that the students have been caught, they need to face the consequences. It's a matter of modesty of the girls
