Mumbai, Aug 1: Rohit Shetty directed Ajay Devgn blockbuster 'Singham' is fast marching towards a record earning, at least for Ajay Devgn, as none of his movies (with him in the lead role) has ever reached the 80-crore mark in his 20-year career, it is learnt.
As published earlier on these columns, the movie had a healthy earning of around 50 crores in domestic as well as international markets in the first two weeks. Sources say that if not for 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobbara', the earning could have been much better.
Some media reported that Ajay Devgn's 'Singham' has already overtaken Salman Khan's 'Ready', and is expected to touch the 80-crore mark by the time Big B's 'Aarakshan' release on August 12.
Among earnings from single screens, 'Singham' has done better than ZNMD, reports say. But the real fight between 'ZNMD' and 'Singham' is in multiplexes.
In multiplexes, 'Singham' has not done as well as expected, but is surely not running under loss.
Ajay Devgn, who has enormous fan following around India and aborad, has consistently maintained his star value, and after the success of 'Golmaal-3' and 'Rajneethi', Devgn is now tasting success as a single lead.
Rohit Shetty is too happy about the outcome, and specially for his buddy and 'lucky charm' Devgn, with whom he intends to pair up in the future too.
