Freida Pinto's 'Trishna' to Premier at Toronto Film Festival

Toronto, Aug 2: 26-year-old Slumdog Millionaire star Freida Pinto is in the news again, this time for her new movie ''Trishna'' which will be premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival to be held from September 8  to 18.

Directed by Michael Winterbottom, a UK-based director, the movie features Freida Pinto as well as Pakistani-origin actor Riz.

Incidentally, 'Trishna' is only Indian movie to be premiered in Toronto Fim Festival.

The movie is said to be an adaptation of Thomas Hardy's 'Tess of the D'Urbervilles.'

The movie is all about the protagonist 'Trishna' (played by Freida Pinto) who is seduced by the rich son of real estate businessman.

Freida Pinto, a Mangalorean Catholic girl, has her roots in Nirude in Mangalore. She shot to fame after Slumdog Millionaire which won several awards including, Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, Palm Springs International Film Festival – Breakthrough Performance Award, Nomination for BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role, Black Reel Awards of 2008 – Best Ensemble, MTV Movie Award for Best Female Breakthrough Performance
and MTV Movie Award for Best Kiss.
