Mangaluru, Aug 7: The annual feast and annual general body meeting of St Christopher Association (R) was held on August 6.
In the morning, bishop emeritus, Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza celebrated the Holy Mass at Rosari Cathedral and blessed the vehicles of the members, thereafter.
Later, the general body of the association was held at the Rosario Cultural Hall, Mangaluru. Bishop Dr Aloysius was present as the president of the function. Sandra Maria Loreen, general manager, Karnataka Bank was the chief guest.
During the function, the children of the members of the association, who secured distinctions and ranks in the academic studies were honoured with cash prizes and gifts. Also the children of the members were given cash assistance for books, etc.
Primal Furtado, a daughter of a member was honoured for her securing place in national level pistol shooting and Denzil Antony Lobo was felicitated for his winning ‘Great Agriculturist Award’ in integrated agriculture system.
The chief guest in her speech, lauded the good work and various useful programmes being conducted by the association for its members, she wished every success to this 56-year-old St Christopher Association.
In his presidential message Bishop Dr Aloysius, while congratulating the children for their achievement in their academics, advised them not to seek jobs in foreign countries. Instead, work in their own country, India, by being helpful to their parents and being name and fame to the society as well as their own country.
At the beginning, the association president Dr John D’Silva welcomed the gathering secretary, and Sunil Lobo read the 2022-23 period annual report and was accordingly adopted and passed. M/s Sunil Gonsalves, chartered accountants, Mangaluru have been appointed as auditors for the period 2023-24. John Baptist Gomes, vice president proposed a vote of thanks. Leena D’Souza and Lancy D’Cunha, members of the association compered the whole programme. Jerald D’Souza, assistant secretary was present at the function.
