A bulk of bhang chocolates seized by the Mangaluru North and South station police from the duo had been sent to the laboratory to test for presence of ganja.

The case was booked under NDPS after the report confirmed traces of Ganja in the chocolates.

It may be recalled that the Mangaluru North Station police inspector and staff had arrested Manohar Shet from Pooja Palace Building, Car Street, for being in possession of 300 packets, each containing 40 bhang chocolates, with a total value of Rs 48,000, along with an additional 592 loose bhang chocolates. Bhang is legal , These cops probably assumed the “BHANG” itself to be a chocolate and call it as infused with weed . Bhang looks like a dark brownish green ball faintly resembling a chocolate . One can find that out by simply googling it . Please cops be fair and assure the right sentence for the victims

How can a mentally weak person get involved in such a "secretive" business! BTW, such statements by the accused cannot stand in a court of law!

If I am not mistaken Bhang, supposedly, extracted from the leaves of the cannabis tree 🎄 is legal here; I don't understand how someone can with certainty prove that the bhang used in the chocolates was not an extract from the leaves? BTW, this extra fast greed to make money will cost a tonne (bahut bhari padega) for the victims, especially local carstreet maam!

Bhang is also consumed during Holi and other celebrations. But here it was laced with chocolates, which perhaps was not permitted by the concerned authorities.

Very much true; lacing food items with mind altering substances and then selling it surreptitiously to the gullible and innocent people would be counted as a very serious offence; the accused cannot escape now by giving frivolous statements!

But Drug is frequently used by DK and Udupi youths. Why there is no protest from Rss and Bajarang dal. Thousands of students must have addicted to drugs because of these chocolates. Govt should take this matter seriously and give harsh punishment.
