Mumbai: Governor K Sankaranarayanan Mourns Death of Dr P C Alexander

Mumbai, Aug 10: The Governor of Maharashtra K Sankaranaryanan has deeply mourned the demise of former Governor of Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu Dr P C Alexander. Dr Alexander, who was Governor of Maharashtra from 12 January, 1993 to 13 July 2002, passed away in Chennai early in the morning on Wednesday August 10.

In a condolence message to Ashok Alexander, Governor Sankaranarayanan said, “Dr P C Alexander will go down in the history of Maharashtra not only as the longest serving Governor, but also and importantly as one of the finest Governors. He brought to bear his vast experience as an international diplomat while discharging his duties as the Governor of the State. It would be fair to say that Dr Alexander created benchmarks for fellow Governors and future Governors.”

 “A man of vast learning and scholarship, Dr Alexander was an authority on various subjects including history, civilization, religion, international diplomacy and civil services. Maharashtra can never forget Dr P C Alexander for his lasting good work for the State and the nation at large. On behalf of the people of the State and on my own behalf, I pay my respects to the memory of the late Dr P C Alexander and convey my heartfelt condolences to Ackama Alexander, his sons Jawahar and Ashok and other members of the bereaved family”, said Governor Sankaranarayanan.

    We deeply mourn the sad passing away of Dr PC Alexander. I was his ADC at Raj Bhavan Chennai. A very articulate, erudite and a great personality.He was my role model and would be greatly missed by our country. A thorough gentleman and a man of impeccable honesty and integrity, Our deep felt condolence to Mrs Alexander and the entire family. We all will miss him.
