Kundapura, Sep 5: School education department, office of block education officer and Kundapura resource centre held teacher’s day at Kundapura R N Shetty Auditorium.
The backward class commission president Jayaprakash Hegde who inaugurated the programme said that the opinions of teachers should be considered and primary school and higher primary school teachers also should have the right to vote.
“Education includes studies, sports and art. Parents should identify the talents of children and support them. The religion of the student should be mentioned clearly during the child’s school admission so that there may be no problems to receive reservation facilities,” he said.
Retired Kannada professor Dr Srikanth Rao Siddapur said that teachers learn along with the students. “There is no wealth that exceeds knowledge. The mental capacity of a student is being considered,” he said.
Taluk panchayat executive officer Shashidhar M presided over the programme. Bantara Yane Nadavara Sangha Kundapura convener Avarse Sudhakar Shetty, block coordination officer Ashok Nayak, teacher’s cooperative society president Santhosh Kumar Shetty, district award recipient, retired teacher Navinchandra Shetty, physical education supervisor Ravindra Nayak, municipal council member Prabhavati Shetty, teachers association president Udaya Kumar Shetty, Ganesh Kumar Shetty, Jyothi Moorthi M S, Pradeep Bhandary, Pradeep Kumar Shetty and Manjunath were present.
Last year’s award winners and teachers who retired during the last term were felicitated.
Block education officer Shobha Shetty welcomed and compered the programme besides rendering the vote of thanks. Teachers performed a Yakshgana play before the programme.
