Punjab panel favours lifting 'Aarakshan' ban with changes

Chandigarh, Aug 12 (IANS) A high-level committee set up by the Punjab government to preview the controversial movie "Aarakshan", which deals with the reservation issue, Friday recommended removal of ban on its screening in the state if the producer agreed to make certain changes.

The committee submitted its report to the government Friday after viewing the film Thursday evening, and said that it contained certain dialogues and scenes which could provoke emotions of certain communities, especially those from weaker sections of society.

The state government Thursday imposed a ban on the film following intelligence reports that it could lead to social disturbance.
