Mangaluru, Sep 11: Teacher’s Day is a moment that highlights the firm dedication, selflessness and hard work of teachers. They work tirelessly to create a nurturing environment for the student teachers and grow.
To commemorate this, Teacher’s Day was celebrated at St Agnes School CBSE with great fervour. To mark the bicentenary birth anniversary of Venerable Mother Veronica, the foundress of Apostolic Carmel congregation, retired teachers and the support staff were invited and were thanked for their commitment and benevolence. The school cabinet members along with other students entertained the teaching and non-teaching faculty with a heart-warming programme. The celebration commenced with the prayer service followed by welcome dance, skit, dance drama - Guru Parampara, wishing song, recitation of poem, retro dance, games, PPT presentation and flash mob.
The tiny tots of St Agnes Preparatory school too recognised their teachers’ dedication and commemorated the day with great enthusiasm. They gave floral welcome to all teachers, conducted games with the help of the coordinator Sr Letitia, action song, skit, felicitation songs and words of appreciation for the teachers were given by the students.
The school along with the management, showed appreciation to Mary Lobo, Louisa Rodrigues, Gracilla, Nayana Fernandes, and Mercy, the retired staff of the esteemed institution. To boost the morale of the retired faculty, teacher Chandrika and teacher Kirthi conducted spot games.
A few events like mad ad competition and other games were conducted for teachers. They participated with enthusiasm and zeal. The teachers were appreciative of the innovative and dazzling cultural programme organised by students, under the guidance of Sr Maria Sarika Ac, the principal.
On this auspicious occasion teacher Daphne Fernandes and students Vilena Florence, Sonal Figueira, Sharal Noronha were honoured for their contribution in writing the skit on the life of Mother Veronica. The winners of various games and Mad-Ad competition were honoured at this juncture.
Sr Maria Roopa AC, the joint secretary of St Agnes Institution, the president of the programme thanked the teachers for their selfless service and highlighted that every teacher can bring out the best in students. She urged the students to be proactive in the work they do and take help from teachers.
Sr Maria Sarika AC, the principal, Sr Edna Furtado AC, administrator, Sr Lenita Lobo AC the vice principal and Sr Sweedal Fernandes AC were present for the programme.
The students from grade I to X compered the programme, Angelina D’Souza welcomed the gathering. Vival Serrao proposed the vote of thanks. Teacher Nisha expressed the sentiments of the staff and thanked the management and students. The programme concluded with the fellowship meal organised on behalf of the celebration.
