New Delhi, Aug 13 (IANS): The Andhra Pradesh government is likely to give a clean-chit to Prakash Jha's "Aarakshan" and the screening of the film will start from Saturday, said the distributors of the film.
"'Aarakshan' has been appreciated and cleared by APFDC (Andhra Pradesh Film Development Corporation) and is likely to be cleared by the government by noon today (Saturday) and shows will start soon thereafter," said a statement from distributors Reliance Entertainment.
"Aarakshan" deals with the issue of reservation in academic institutions and has Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone in the lead roles. The movie ran into trouble for certain dialogues deemed objectionable and offensive by a certain section of society.
As a result, the movie faced protests from certain groups and was banned in three states - Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Andhra Pradesh, respectively.
The Punjab government has imposed a few conditions to lift the ban from the movie.
Jha has filed a petition against the ban imposed by the states. The Supreme Court will hear the case Tuesday, but because of all this brouhaha, the filmmaker is fearing losses.
