Mangaluru, Sep 19: Catholic Sabha Mangalore Region (R), Omzoor unit organised Antakshari Competition ‘Do Re Mi Fa - Season 2’ on September 17 at Sabha Bhavan.
The programme began with invoking God's blessings by Francis Mendonca and team. John Preetham D’Souza, president of Catholic Sabha Omzoor welcomed the gathering. Parish priest Fr Alwyn D’Cunha inaugurated the competition and wished all the success to the program and encouraged all the participants. A well-known singer Robin Sequeira was the judge for the competition. Babitha Dsouza introduced the judge to the gathering. Melwyn Braggs compered the inaugural ceremony.
As many as 14 wards actively participated in the competition and showcased their enthusiasm and thoroughly enjoyed the event. The wards were divided into two groups of A and B with 7 teams each. Best 3 teams from each group qualified for the finals. Steven D’Souza and Babitha D’Souza conducted the competition.
The finalists were Baddurkana ward, Kodman Ward, Arkula II Ward, Thev Ward, Baddur Ward and Mayyadi II Ward.
Guests on the dais were parish priest Fr Alwyn D’Cunha; Arther D’Souza, vice president of PPC; Dafny Lewis, secretary of PPC; Elroy Saldanha, coordinator of all church commissions; Robin Sequeira, judge of the competition; and John Preetham D’Souza, president of Catholic Sabha, Omzoor. The guests distributed the prizes to the winners and all the finalist teams.
The first place was bagged by Kodman Ward. Arkula II won second place. Winners were awarded with cash prizes, a trophy, medals and certificates. Four finalist teams were awarded consolation prizes.
The participants shared their reviews and expressed their thoughts regarding the competition. This event was truly instrumental by providing an opportunity to a large group of participants to showcase their talent.
