Puttur: Mason wins Rs 50 lac prize money in Kerala state lottery draw

Puttur, Sep 28: Lady Luck smiled on hard working mason Chandraiah Kumbara, a resident of Enmady in Ilanthila village of the taluk, who is providing good education to his four daughter in spite of poverty. He won a prize money of Rs 50 lac in the Kerala state lottery draw.

Chandraiah had gone to Sri Nalwar Daivastana of Kanathur. He bought Onam bumper lottery costing Rs 500. The bumper prize was Rs 25 crore. Chandraiah won the third prize of Rs 50 lac.

Speaking to media, an elated Chandraiah said, “I am a resident of five cents Janata Colony. I have four daughters. My first daughter has studied till PUC, the second one is doing her MBA, the third daughter is studying in degree and the last one is pursuing paramedical course.

“I am the only breadwinner of the family. Though I am financially poor, I have got my daughters educated. I have taken Rs 10 lac loan for their education and marriage. So I will give first priority to clear off the loan. I think God understood my difficulties,” he said.
