Mumbai, Aug 19: Not that film maker Ram Gopal Varma had any less trouble. RGV’s soon-to-release ‘Not a love Story’ whose script is mainly based on the Neeraj Grover murder case had faced many hurdles on its way to the box office. Beginning with the censor board to the main accused in the murder case, Jerome Matthews’ plea to stop the screening of the movie till he is assured that he is not portrayed in a negative light, it all seems never ending!

Just when the movie got scheduled to release on Friday August 19, a filmmaker filed a lawsuit against Varma claiming that the movie was copied from his movie ‘Love Affair’!

The plaintiff, by the name Shareef Ahmed Zuberi , said that his movie too was based on the murder case and was 70% complete when he found out that Varma was releasing ‘Not a Love Story’.

Zuberi has pleaded the Dindoshi Magistrate court to put a stay on the release of Varma’s film. The court, however, rejected his plea.

He claims that he registered his movie with the Film Writers Association back in July 2010 and has spent over Rs 70 lac on it. He added that he could not complete the entire film as he was waiting for the final verdict on the murder case.

“My client has been wronged. Varma hurriedly made the film and is hurriedly releasing it on August 19. Zuberi stands to lose a lot if justice is not served,” said Zuberi’s advocate, Sushan Kunjuraman.

Commenting on this issue, RGV said, “If he (Zuberi) had objections with regard to the subject matter of my film he should have approached the court earlier, since the advertisements were released six months ago.”
