Prachi shines at Neeta Lulla's show

Mumbai, Aug 20 (IANS) Actress Prachi Desai made the shutterbugs go crazy with her innocent charm when she opened designer Neeta Lulla's show at the ongoing Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) Winter/Festive 2011 here Saturday.

Dressed in an embellished lehenga choli, Prachi strutted down the ramp after a spell-binding classical dance performance that set the mood for the rest of the show.

"I don't think that there could be a better day. I am so glad that I walked for Neeta. I am very, very fond of all the design she makes. First time I wore her dress in Filmfare and I think that was one of the times when I looked best and I owe it to Neeta," Prachi told reporters after the show.

Stressing on her decision to rope in Prachi as the showstopper for the show, Neeta explained: "The look of Prachi is very apt for girls. Prachi is the right muse for this kind of look. She is very traditional yet very contemporary."

Neeta's collection at LFW revived the old age sri hastakala kalamkari, a technique from coastal Andhra, combined with rich inspiration of Renaissance.

The collection had a contemporary yet traditional flavour. The fabrics used were light silk, georgettes, silk chiffons, French lace and nets embellished with ethnic craftwork and cutwork of velvet kundan and metal work.

"The embroidery took a long time as it has lots of antique work," said Neeta.

Actress Shabana Azmi, Sridevi, Pooja Bedi and actor Prateik, among others, graced the first row at the show.
