Toronto, Oct 8: Under the dynamic leadership of the Mangalorean Association of Canada (MAC) headed by its president Maxim D’Mello and vice-president Vijay Dante, the global premiere show of the much-awaited Konkani movie ‘Osmitay’ was held in Canada at the renowned Central Parkway Cinema, Mississauga, Greater Toronto on Saturday, October 7.
Wishing the best to the movie, MAC president Maxim D’Mello welcomed the full-house gathering and said “I wish to thank the president of Mandd Sohann and the producer of the movie Louie Pinto and the Gurkar Baab Eric Ozario for giving MAC the unique privilege to globally premiere ‘Osmitay’ in Canada.
He continued by expressing his gratitude to the Konkani Community in Canada who overwhelmingly supported MAC's invitation to witness the movie. He also acknowledged Jeswita, sister of heroine Wencita Dias, Amora Monteiro daughter of Denis Monteiro who played the lead role, Sai Chand who knew the artistes, Pritvi and Prakriti Monteiro the nephew and niece of the co-director and music director Joel Pereira.
'Osmitay' movie features Ashwin D'Costa and Wencita Dias in the lead roles. The movie is directed by Vilas Ratnakar Kshatriya and produced by Louis J Pinto under Mandd Sobhann Productions banner.
The story of 'Osmitay' is penned by Eric Ozario with Joel Pereira as the screenplay writer and co-director.
The music is composed by Eric Ozario, Allwyn Fernandes, Cajetan Dias, and Joel Pereira. Editing is skilfully done by Joel Pereira, while the visuals have been beautifully captured by Balraj Gowda.
The movie also stars Sandeep Malani, Dennis Monteiro, Stany Alvares, Prince Jacob, Sai Panandikar from Goa, Gowrish Vernekar, Lulu Fortes, Eric Ozario, Roy Castelino, Harry Correa, Nellu Permanur, Naveen Lobo, Arun Noronha, Mishal Fernandes and Flavia.
The movie viewers in Canada were extremely happy watching that showcased the visual splendour of Konkani's rich folk heritage along with a love story that also offered a more realistic portrayal of the community and its culture. They enjoyed the curated scenes and dialogues. Also, they highly
commended the beautiful acting performances by all the actors, especially Denis Monteiro, Ashwin D’Costa, Wencita Dias, Prince Jacob, and Nellu Permannur.
