Kasargod, Oct 9: Our Lady of Dolours Church, Bela, together with the Catholic Sabha, Bela unit, organised an anti-drug addiction rally, on October 8 at Seethangoli in support of the Mangalore diocese's movement of anti-drug addiction.
The rally began with a procession with the enthusiastic parishioners participating in it in a big number with placards in their hands. The procession which passed through the main road of Seethangoli culminated at the Seethangoli circle.
The rally was supported by Mathew MA, the DySP of narcotic cell. In the public programme that followed, Janardhana, senior civil excise officer, spoke about the menace of drug addiction and the need to be vigilant with regard to children and youth who are much vulnerable to this havoc.
Fr Stany Pereira, the parish priest of Bela church, explained concern of the bishop the diocese to prevent the children and youth from falling a prey to this evil. Stany Lobo, teacher, spoke on the addiction problem that is present around the place.
The general public of Seethangoli supported the rally with their supportive presence.
Cyril Crasta, the vice president of Bela Parish pastoral Council, and Vanitha Vani Crasta, president, Catholic Sabha Bela shared the dais.
The secretary of parish pastoral council, the religious sisters, the ward leaders, parish council members, the office bearers and members of the Catholic Sabha and the parishioners were present.
