UPSC success story: Rickshaw puller’s son cracks IAS examination

Daijiworld Media Network – Varanasi (MS)

Varanasi, Oct 24: The story of Govind Jaiswal, who cracked UPSC examination in 2006 at the age of 22 with an AIR of 48 is an inspirational one as his father was a cycle rickshaw puller.

Govind’s family lived in Varanasi. His father had 35 cycle rickshaws at one time. However, he had to sell 20 of them to raise the financial expenses of his mother’s illness. But his mother succumbed to illness the same year.

In 2004-05, Govind went to Delhi to study for the UPSC. But the financial condition of his father was not good. However, his father was determined to make his son realize his dream and sold 14 cycle rickshaws and kept just one for himself.

Govind’s father was suffering from a leg ailment but did not mind and made the living by running the cycle rickshaw. He was owning 35 rickshaws at one time and had to run only one. But he sacrificed them initially for his wife and later for his son.

Like his father, Govind was determined. He studied with dedication and hard work and secured 48th rank and is now working as one of the senior IAS officers.

This is nothing but over blowing some one's achievement. How can a person who owns 35 cycle rickswas be consideredas poor or coolie. He is Shet in India. It is really bad when people simple over project their achievement hiding real support they might have got in their successs. I agree this Shet may not be educated but certainly had money to educate his son. Also some teachers or well wishers might have guided his son ( Guidance is some thing you will get only if u are blessed to get) None of those things are shared - only self projection in wrong way and half truths -I am rikshaw pullers son
