Bahrain: Konkani musical play ‘Mhojea Sangeetha’ to be presented on Nov 3

Media Release

Bahrain, Oct 26: Art is a realm free from strict rules, allowing self-expression and fostering creativity. It encompasses various cultural forms reflecting human ingenuity. Sadly, many forms of performing arts face existential threats today. One way to counter these challenges is to infuse innovation and appeal to a broader audience.

Krisben Music has been in the spotlight for three consecutive years, releasing consecutive Konkani Music Videos aimed at reviving Konkani music in the post-CD era. These creations, born from unique concepts, have garnered admiration from art enthusiasts. Change is inevitable, even though it incurs substantial costs. The goal is to disseminate new songs to the masses, convey intended messages, and infuse entertainment value.

Krisben Music is now embarking on a fresh venture in the Konkani cultural sphere. Christopher Roshan Lobo, the owner of Krisben Music, eagerly anticipates the upcoming Konkani Musical Play titled ‘Mhojea Sangeetha’, scheduled for November 3, at the esteemed stage of The Indian Club in Bahrain. He outlines the uniqueness of this Konkani production.

Christopher's vision was to organize a musical show in Bahrain utilizing local talents. Krisben Music lacked the requisite song repertoire for an entertaining musical night. The idea struck him to harness the songs of various composers and producers from Bahrain, including Krisben's own creations, to stage a musical extravaganza. Christopher aimed to set this production apart to attract a wider audience. He collaborated with musical experts like Steven D'Souza, who produced the Konkani music album ‘Sangath’, and the promising composer and musician Prinson Machado. Together, they conceived ‘Mhojea Sangeetha’.

Steven explains that they carefully selected songs, arranged them meticulously, crafted a story and drama script, seamlessly integrated the songs into the narrative, choreographed dances, and involved the drama artists in the dance routines. The result is ‘Mhojea Sangeetha’, a live cinematic experience meticulously planned to minimize interruptions.

Prinson notes their good fortune in having a rich pool of songs that weave a compelling storyline. They've selected songs from seven Bahrain based Konkani composers/producers: Darel Capuchin, Christopher Lobo (Krisben), Steven D'Souza (Sangath), Walter Dantis (Jiniye Rongg), Prinson Machado, Vivian L. Veigas (View Series), and Naveen Mendonca (Bahrain Konkans). He proudly acknowledges Bahrain's significant contribution to Konkani music in recent years.

Christopher emphasizes that all performers, including actors, singers, and dancers, are from Bahrain. He takes pride in the fact that this is a wholly Bahraini production, offering valuable opportunities to local artists who often face work pressures and a lack of events in Bahrain. The show's story and script are the work of Steven D'Souza.

All the artistes are diligently rehearsing with enthusiasm. The show promises to be an entertainment extravaganza, catering to Konkani culture enthusiasts – combining singing, drama, and dance in a three-hour spectacle.

Eminent Konkani personality Walter D'Souza Nandalike - founder & managing director of Daijiworld media will be gracing the event as a guest to witness this innovative concept, and he expressed his delight upon learning of it.

During the show, Krisben Music will pay tribute to the Konkani community's frontline heroes in Bahrain who displayed unwavering dedication during the Covid-19 pandemic. They played a pivotal role in saving lives, alongside frontline workers from other communities, under the capable leadership of the Kingdom of Bahrain's government.

‘Mhojea Sangeetha’ begins promptly at 5:30 PM, and Christopher aims to follow the excellent time management exemplified by Maand Sobhan's monthly theaters.

To the Konkani community in Bahrain, do not miss an opportunity to witness an exciting story unfold on stage as Krisben Music presents ‘Mhojea Sangeetha’ themed ‘Sangeetha song, Jiniye Rong’, translating to ‘Witness life's colors and drama with music’. Entry to the show is free.

Event registration link has been shared and attendees are encouraged to register for the event by filling the google form before October 31 and attend at or before 5.30 pm on the event day to stand a chance to win attractive prizes during the show.
