Mangaluru, Oct 26: In an unsettling incident on late night of October 25, a mother of two children was subjected to molestation by an intruder who gained entry to her home by removing roof tiles in Debbeli, Harekala. The accused has been arrested in connection with the incident.

The arrested individual is identified as Naufal (38), a resident of Debbeli. The intruder unlawfully entered the residence of a neighboring woman while she was asleep with her two children. He allegedly touched her inappropriately. When the woman awoke and screamed, the accused fled through the front door. By the time local residents arrived at the scene, the offender had already escaped. The woman's husband works the night shift.

During the community's search for the suspect following the incident, Naufal's mobile phone was discovered inside the house.

The accused was taken into custody the following morning, and a case was registered at the Konaje police station. He was subsequently presented in court during the evening.

Serial bathroom intruder

The arrested Naufal has a history of breaking into the bathrooms of numerous local houses, where he has faced physical confrontations. Despite multiple women experiencing harassment, they were reluctant to report the incidents due to fear. Naufal is a married father of two, reportedly living a jobless life and engaging in inappropriate activities throughout the day.

The woman who was subjected to the incident last night initially hesitated to file a complaint. However, she was encouraged by members of a local Hindu organization, who helped her report the incident.

Konaje police took the accused into custody and presented him in court on Thursday.
