Chennai, Aug 25: K N Nehru, transport minister in Karunanidhi regime in Tamil Nadu who was arrested on Thursday August 25 morning in a land grabing case has said that he is innocent and done nothing wrong. "I will face the case legally," he said soon after his arrest.
"The current government in Tamil Nadu under the leadership of Jayalalithaa is playing 'revenge' politics, since we have worked so hard for the DMK party's victory. My colleague in the party in Tiruchi district are the worst affected by this revenge politics. I will face everything patiently and legally," he declared while speaking to reporters.
"My case of land grabbing is politically motivated," he said
Lashing out at the complainant Srinivasan, Nehru claimed that Srinivasa was present at the opening of the Kalaignar Arivalayam and had even presented a shawl to the former CM Karunanidhi. Eventually, a family wedding of the doctor was held at the Kalaignar Arivalayam. The land itself was bought during the previous AIADMK regime, he said.
Nehru, a former transport minister, was arrested on a complaint by Srinivasan, a doctor, for allegedly trying to acquire 13,000 sq ft of his land.
Meanwhile, DMK's minister in union government M K Alagiri, D Napoleon visited thier party colleague Nehru in Tiruchi prison, and flayed Jayalalithaa government saying "Arresting some DMK MLAs and former ministers is the biggest achievement of her 100-day government in Tamil Nadu."
They cautioned that the DMK, once back to power, would take action against the officers responsible for foisting cases against DMK men.
