Udupi: CM promises to announce Bunt Development Corporation in upcoming budget

Udupi, Oct 28: Chief minister Siddaramaiah promised to install Bunt Development Corporation in the next budget as promised by the Congress party in the election manifesto of 2023.

Siddaramaiah made the historic announcement during the inauguration of World Bunts Convention organized by Federation of World Bunts Association in Udupi. Inaugurating the two-day world Bunts sports meet and world Bunts cultural extravaganza Siddaramaiah said, “The Bunt community will never support hatred. The community is celebrating world human culture. Over time, Bunts have expanded worldwide and started their business. They are involved in all sectors of the society. The Bunt community has a unique culture and heritage. They have contributed immensely to Kannada history and culture. Bunt and Mangaluru-Udupi district people love adventure. They have spread all over the world and mingle with everyone wherever they go. This is the pride of the Bunt community. The Bunt community is a secular community celebrating human value of treating all with equal love. It is a matter of pride. As announced in the manifesto, I will announce Bunt Development Corporation in the next budget.”

Laxmi Hebbalkar, Udupi district in-charge minister said, “The contribution of the Bunt community to the entire society is immense. Wherever they go, they maintain their identity. The Udupi-Mangaluru Bunt Society has done the work of uniting the Bunt community in other states and abroad through this conference. In my hometown Belgavi, I have a good relationship with the Bunt community. The Bunts' contribution to the hotel industry is unique. If you see the achievements of Bunts, it means that God's blessings are on this community.”

Karnataka Assembly Speaker U T Khader wished the programme well. Before the opening of the conference, there was a procession of attractive tableaus from Board High School, Udupi to the ground, and a procession of 62 Bunt associations caught the eyes of the onlookers. Ulthur Mohan Das Shetty proposed a vote of thanks.

CM Siddaramaiah, earlier speaking to questions of the media persons regarding the allegation made by MLA Ravi Ganiga that BJP lured the Congress MLAs with an offer of Rs 50 crore, said, "It better to ask the same question to MLA Ravi Ganiga.

“It is true that the BJP is making an attempt to destabilize our government. But their effort will not be successful. They are just daydreaming. They are thirsty for power. They are ready to do anything for the sake of power. Not even a single MLA from our party will fall prey to their allurement,” he said.

Speaking on the debate over renaming Ramanagara, Siddaramaiah said, "No one has discussed this issue with me. The issue has not been discussed even at the government level.”

On providing a development corporation for the Bunt community, the CM said, "As we announced in the manifesto about a development corporation, we will announce Bunt Development Corporation in the next budget.”

Regarding the Rs 18 crore corruption in the Brahmavar Sugar Factory scrap sale, the CM said, "If corruption has taken place, the government will investigate it and initiate action against those who have committed the offense.”

He assured to hold an investigation of alleged irregularity that took place at Parashuram theme park in Karkala.
