Udupi, Oct 31: Income Tax (IT) officials conducted routine checks at the showrooms of Abharan Jewellers, a renowned jeweller of brand of coastal Karnataka, on Tuesday October 31.

The routine checks by the IT officials began in the morning at multiple showrooms of the jewellery brand at Udupi, Mangaluru, Hebri, Karkala and Brahmavar.

    Are they real Police ?or wear uniform of a Police and try to get some hand warming?Usually they give notice if any check up should be made.If they doubt anything come and do fast check up..

    How one differentiate between ' routine IT checks' and 'IT raids' ? Is there any difference in the style officers dress or behave ? Or is it just the way it is reported in the news differently depending on who the business belongs to ??

    There are 2 things, one is scrutiny and the other is search and seizure ( also commonly called raid) . In the first- ie scrutiny the assesee was earlier called to the it department office now it is on-line. In the second, the IT officials come to your place.They come early in the morning and the persons are from outside the city and sometimes outside the state. It is highly secretive and the local IT department never know about it until it starts.
