Puttur: Rural police arrest 4 for areca nut theft, assets worth Rs 4.15 lac seized

Puttur, Oct 31: In connection with the case of theft of about 23 sacks of shelled nuts from the barn of an old house at Koila of Badagannur village on October 26, the Puttur rural police have arrested four persons on Tuesday, October 21.

The accused are Shravan K (20), Jayachandra (21), both residents of Badagannur village, besides Ashoka (24) and Puneeth (20) of Nidpalli village.

The arrested have been booked under crime number 105/2023 and IPC sections 454, 457, 380 after a thorough investigation. The nabbing team was headed by sub-inspector Dhananjaya B C.

Areca nuts worth around Rs 1,55,925, a Swift car and an auto rickshaw used for the theft have also been seized. The total value of the seized assets is around Rs 4,15,925.
