Puttur, Oct 31: Veteran Yakshagana comedian Peruvodi Narayan Bhat passed away on Tuesday, October 31 after a brief illness.

He was 96 years old. He was known as the Hasya Brahma or demigod of comedy on the Yakshagana stage.

He had studied only till the sixth standard. At the age of 14, he performed for the first time in a Yakshagana at the Dharmasthala Mela without any formal training or practice.

Many awards have been conferred on him for his achievements.

Several artistes and fans of Yakshagana have mourned the death of Peruvodi Narayan Bhat.
