UPSC success story: With no coaching, Kuldeep Dwivedi cracks IAS exam

Uttar Pradesh, Nov 1: Kuldeep Dwivedi, son of a security guard cleared the toughest UPSC examination in 2015 in spite of being financially poor.

Suryakant Dwivedi, father of Kuldeep, lives in a small village of Sheikhput in Nigoh district of Uttar Pradesh. He is employed as a security guard in Lucknow University. Being the only bread winner of the family, Suryakant used to earn meagre salary of Rs 1,100 per month. He took up working as labourer in farms in order to supplement the educational expenses of his children.

Kuldeep did his graduation from Allahabad University in 2009 and went on to complete post-graduation in 2011. Kuldeep stayed in Allahabad while preparing for IAS and did not have mobile phone to speak to is family. He used to call them once a week from the PCO.

Due to hard work and dedication, Kuldeep cleared UPSC exam in the first attempt itself in 2015 and secured 142nd rank in India. He never went for coaching but borrowed books from other people who had attempted the IAS examination.
