Udupi: Pedestrian struck to death by rashly driven container lorry

Udupi, Nov 1: A pedestrian lost his life after being struck by a container lorry at Santekatta in Udupi.

The deceased has been identified as Sanjeeva (61).

The unfortunate incident occurred on the morning of Wednesday, November 1 at 6:50 am when Sanjeeva was walking on the mud road adjacent to the Coastal – Santhekatte National Highway-66, which passes near the Santhekatte Classic Service Center in Puttur village.

A container vehicle with registration KA-19-AA-6363, traveling from Udupi towards Santhekatte, overturned due to the rash and negligent driving of the driver, Pramod, who was on the far left side of the road. As a result, the container box of the lorry separated from the vehicle, causing the lorry to lose control and collide with Sanjeeva.

Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries at 10:16 am without receiving medical attention.

The Udupi traffic police station has registered a case in connection with the incident.
