DKS, Bommai, HDK mourn Chandre Gowda’s demise

Bengaluru, Nov 7: Deputy Chief Minister and KPCC Chief D K Shivakumar has mourned the death of veteran leader D B Chandre Gowda, who was senior Congress leader and Lok Sabha member before joining BJP.

Shivakumar said the demise of the veteran leader, who had occupied top position among the leaders from the Malnad region and had the distinction of being the member of Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha as well as Assembly and Council besides being the Speaker of the Assembly and also a minister, is a irreparable loss to the State, said Shivakumar.

Former BJP chief minister Basavaraj Bommai and JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy have also expressed their condolences at the death of Chandre Gowda.

While Bommai said he felt as if losing a member of the family, Kumaraswamy described the Vokkaliga leader who had served the State in different capacities for five decades as a disciplined, upright and committed leader.
