Bengaluru, Nov 12: JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy has alleged that the Congress party is adopting a strategy of distributing in the night Gift Coupons of Rs 3000 and Rs 5000 value with cure code to the voters of five states going to assembly polls.

Addressing a news conference in the party office on Sunday, he has asked the voters of the 5 states facing elections to be vigilant against the "unscrupulous gimmicks of Congress party."

Kumaraswamy, whose party has joined the BJP-led NDA for next year’s parliamentary polls, claimed that the Congress party had adopted a similar strategy in over 50 assembly constituencies, including Ramanagara, Magadi, Kanakapura and Kunigal in Karnataka, and the Congress workers had told the voters to first cast their votes and then buy the commodities for the value of the coupons from the malls.

The JD(S) state president went on to allege that the State voters were in for rude shock when they went to the malls after casting votes to buy the things by presenting coupons to be told that they have to pay the money was not loaded into the coupons.

"There is a possibility that the Congress party will adopt similar gimmick of distributing gift coupons to lure voters in the five states, including Telangana,’’ he said asking the voters to be careful.

The JD(S) leader claimed that Congress party has developed mastery over winning elections through underhand methods. "The Bharat Rashtra Samiti, BJP and other anti-Congress parties need to be vigilant,’’ he warned.

Kumaraswamy alleged that the Congress government’s guarantees were all "fake’’ and asked the voters of the 5 states not to be fooled by such guarantees.

"There are no government buses for the Shakti guarantee and school children are forced to travel on JCBs. There is darkness under Gruhajyothi due to power cuts while Gruhalakshmi faces server problems and hundreds of excuses for Anna Bhagya scheme,’’ he said attacking the government by pointing out at the various excuses offered by ministers for the problems guarantees.

The JD(S) leader charged that the Congress government’s guarantees were fake and were announced to fool the voters during elections and alleged that chief minister Siddaramaiah was just a 'TCM or temporary CM' while deputy chief
minister D K Shivakumar is a 'DCM or duplicate CM' and wondered what these two leaders are campaigning in Telangana when people in Karnataka are suffering.

He alleged that the Congress government is indulging in collection of commissions and claimed that the only guarantee is 'commission guarantee' and pointed out that commission is being collected even in the Indira Canteens.

Kumaraswamy, who had served as chief minister with the support of both BJP and Congress earlier, claimed that the state’s total outstanding debt is Rs 5,71,800 crore and the government is out to raise another Rs 85,815 crore debt through the
budget.

The JD(S) leader claimed that the state’s total debt during the last 12 years was Rs 1 lakh crore while when Siddaramaiah as chief minister had raised Rs 2,45,000 crore debt. The chief minister has no right to speak about debt burden or attack Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said.

He also claimed that Telangana under its chief minister Chandrashekar Rao is providing 24-hour power supply while in Karnataka the power supply is only for 5 hours. "Should the people of Telangana vote for the party which 5 hour power
supply in Karnataka or the party giving 24-hour power supply," he asked.
