Kaup, Nov 14: Retired Vijaya Bank employee and BJP leader Gopa Poojary (68), who was seriously injured as an unidentified car hit his scooter, succumbed to injuries on Monday November 13.

On October 26, a car hit Gopa Poojary’s scooter near Katapady Moodabettu. He was admitted to KMC hospital in Manipal. On November 13, he breathed his last.

Police traced the car and the driver at Brahmavar. A case was registered in Brahmavar police station.

Gopa is survived by son and daughter.

Gopa served as the convener of the BJP cooperative wing of Kaup legislative assembly constituency. He was the Pramukh of BJP Shakti Kendra of Kaup. He was office bearer in various organisations and was a social worker also.

Kaup MLA Gurme Suresh Shetty, MLC Srinivasa Poojary, former MLA Lalaji R Mendon, BJP district president Kuyiladi Suresh Nayak, zonal president Srikant Nayak and other office bearers expressed their condolences over the death of Gopa Poojary.
