Udupi quadruple murder: Chowgule killed Ainaz due to jealousy, animosity

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi

Udupi, Nov 16: Preliminary investigations suggest that the quadruple murder accused international airlines flight attendant Praveen Chowgule (37) was an over-possessive person and the murder was triggered by jealousy and animosity, highly placed sources in the police department have disclosed.

Praveen was nabbed from Belagavi from his relative's house in a joint operation by the Udupi and Belagavi police for the brutally stabbing to death his flight cabin colleague of Ainaz, her two siblings Afnan (23), Aseem (12) and mother Haseena (46) and grievously injuring her grandmother Hajirabi.

During interrogation, Praveen Chowgule confessed to the crime and has been remanded to police custody till November 28.

There were various speculations abound around the motive behind the murder from unrequited love, involvement in gold smuggling, rift over mutual monetary transactions and so on.

However, the SP sources have revealed that at that outset Praveen was obsessed about Ainaz and this was the motive behind the brutal murder. Further details are expected to emerge during the interrogation.

If I am not mistaken an initial confession by any accused following arrest should never be taken at face value for obvious reasons; the entire operation of going on a stabbing spree, killing four people in such a big bungalow, and finishing off heinous job in 15 minutes and escaping in broad daylight without any evidence of blood stains, which nobody on the crowded street observed is very difficult to digest 😔!! This is a very personal opinion and not in any way reflect upon the investigation news report available in the public domain till date!

Girls parents should be blamed for allowing her colleague visit her home so often when he’s married and indulged in wrong doings. Women should keep men’s from kilometers length to save their future. And live in dignity.

Who told you that he was visiting her house? She just joined 7 months ago...Being much senior to her, he was helping her in her duties since she is new. She went home alone ? He must have collected her address from the office. Since he was going for the first time, grandma didn't recognize him. If he was going frequently, grandma would give information. ...when she came to know he is married, she stopped his friendship and even blocked his no. This made this one way bad love/one way love to explode. So many members staying in the house....look at his courage to enter!!! Please do not speculate. She is really innocent girl ....he is around 40 and this girl 20 to 21. Why she needs this old bokku muduka?

The jealousy, animosity is all a farce. Its an open secret that AIE cabin crew, ground staff etc are involved in dubious activities and receive a good cut from their other 'bosses'. Half of the AIE staff are outsourced contractors being paid nothing. If you see the life Chowgule was living its obvious, that he was onto something else besides his peanut AIE salary. The house he owned, the car he drove. The special number plate itself cost INR 22K. Something might have gone wrong somewhere and someone had to be silenced to save someone. So Chowgule may be sentenced for life imprisonment initially and then he may be released in 5 years due to good behaviour . He can disappear elsewhere.

i doubt this man must have done many misdeeds in his past life....everything has to be dug out and then make him run on the railway tracks as was done to one of the gangsters who was involved in a sensation murder few years ago and shoot him down..

Abdulla, Ours is a wishful thinking that he should be hanged earliest. There were 539 death row prisoners in India at the end of 2022. Last hanging of 4 death row murderers was in March 2020 in Nirbhay case. After that, there is no hanging in the last 3 years. Then one can imagine under our law, whether he will be hanged at all or he may die by natural death, only time will tell. This is a mockery of justice in India.

Abdulla R.Kotipake,Dear Abdulla just a moment, even though he should be hanged and let him die within minutes,we wish he shouldnt be hanged and die within few seconds. But he should feel and suffer what he had done to others and how they suffered.

HANGING WILL GIVE HIM A FAST DEATH, HE WONT REGRET WHAT HE DID , HE HAS TO BE TORCHUIRED SO AS TO FEEL REGRET OF WHAT HE DID

let us stop our fascinations...we live in India and we know how long it takes for cases to get over..moreover death sentence is just a illusion...there are countless death row convicts enjoying life in prison since decades....i hope the govt or rather the judiciary considers this as rarest of rare cases and no other chaddi organizations support this animal from behind and he is sent to gallows just like the killers of nirbhaya....
