Mangaluru, Nov 30: Young Indians Mangalore unit of Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) organized beach surfing in the city under the title ‘Thatasth 2.0’ as part of its national programme commencing on the November 24 ending with its annual day celebrations on November 26.
Delegates from various parts of the country were acquainted with the hospitality characteristic of the coastal lifestyle. Coastal arts were showcased, providing an introduction to the way of life in our region for individuals from diverse parts of the country. This comprised of a visit to multiple farms and getting to know the nuances of life at a farm and a visit to the tile factory. Culinary delights ranging from award winning ice creams from the city, to savouring the seafood delicacies or cherishing the simple yet tongue tingling vegetarian fare enticed the delegates into returning for more.
The annual retreat saw participants from different chapters of Young Indians throughout the country learn surfing at the Mantra Surf Club and getting acquainted with an exciting world of surfing in India. Since 2004, Mantra has been leading the surf culture, establishing India’s first surf camp on the peaceful west coast of Karnataka in Mulki, near Mangaluru, Udupi, and Manipal. The participants learnt to surf, paddle board and also kayak in the refreshing waters.
Young Indians (YI) Mangalore annual celebrations were held in Mangaluru at Gold Finch on November 26. New office-bearers were elected with M Athmika Amin as the chairperson and CA Salome Lobo Pereira as the co-chair. Divya Taneja Koh graced the event with her presence as a national representative of Young Indians. Suyog Shetty, CEO of Niveus Solutions, and Laeeq Ali, Bloombox Brand Engineers, a brand consultant and strategist who has made a big mark in the field of branding, were the chief guests. CII chairman Praveen Kalbhavi and vice chairman Ajith Kamath were present. Outgoing chairperson Sameeksha Shetty, who successfully handled the entire responsibility in the previous term and performed her best, was felicitated at the function.
The federation has 65 units across the country and the Yi Mangaluru is a chapter established three years ago. In just three years, it has successfully hosted and organized two-national level events and several events locally thus far.
