Mangaluru, Dec 8: The 144th annual day celebration of St Aloysius Pre University College took place in its College grounds on Friday, December 8.
Addressing the gathering, Indian Air Force Project Management Team (Combat System) DRDO, GP Capt Rhonston Soans, expressed nostalgia returning to his alma mater after 26 years. He acknowledged the significant changes in the campus and recalled his college days. Soans emphasized the challenges that young individuals face after graduating from college, urging students to live life to the fullest and be good citizens.
Rector of St Aloysius Institutions, Fr Melwin Pinto, highlighted the importance of education, sports, and extracurricular activities in shaping well-rounded individuals. He emphasized the value of peaceful coexistence, urging unity for a better humanity.
The formal function included the reading of the college annual report by principal Fr Clifford Sequeira SJ, along with vice principal of Commerce & Arts divison Vilma Fernandes and counsellor Sangeeta Sequeira announcing the names of prize winners. Vice principal of Science divison Murali Krishna G M welcomed the gathering, and Sarah Crasta, lecturer, Department of Psychology proposed a vote of thanks. The event was compered by second PU students Dianne Lobo and Jaden D'Souza.
A cultural event followed the formal function, compered by Gabrielle Clementine Viegas, Bianca Bambina D'Souza, Shreya Das, and Alma Lathisa Pinto.
The event was attended by finance officer Fr Pradeep Sequeira, campus minister Fr Anthony Derrick, convenor Tulsi Kumar, deans Dr Pradeep M, Kiran Shetty, president of the Student Council Nikhil K, vice president Mohammed Rehaan Bawa, secretary Manya Dechamma M, joint secretary Harsh A Sharma, cultural secretary Jewel Isabella Cutinha, Nishchal Gangadhar Naiga, and sports secretary Sanketh B Chowta.
