Mangaluru/Udupi: Rashtriya Lok Adalat resolves 13,618 cases in DK, 45,975 in Udupi

Mangaluru/Udupi, Dec 10: Rashtriya Lok Adalat was held in various taluk courts and district courts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi on Saturday. As many as 13,618 cases were resolved in Dakshina Kannada district while a whopping 45,975 cases got resolved in Udupi.

In Dakshina Kannada, compensation amounting to Rs 16,94,65,274 was awarded while in Udupi the amount was Rs 19,94,22,086.

In Dakshina Kannada, 47 baitaks were held and 22,135 cases were considered. Out of them 13,618 cases were resolved through mutual consent. These included pre-litigation, crime cases that can be agreed through mutual consent, cases of motor vehicle accident compensation, civil cases, cases related to property and other agreeable cases were resolved.

In Udupi, 45,975 cases were resolved. Out of these 40 were crime cases that were withdrawn through compromise, 332 cases of cheque bounce, 17 related to bank or money recovery, 148 related to MVC, three related to family feuds, 174 civil, 1,641 other criminal cases and 43,620 pre-litigation cases were resolved.
