Mangaluru: Police, mining dept officials raid illegal sand mining blocks in Harekala

Mangaluru, Dec 13: A police team led by Konaje Police Station officer Balakrishna H N along with mining and geological department officials seized two barges in the area near Kadavi of Harekala where illegal sand mining was being carried out.

The police and land mines department officials, who received definite information about sand being transported illegally in land boats raided the area.

The sand mafia used to take away sand from the river through boats and supply it to local households. The accused went absconded during the raid.

PSIs Puneet Gaonkar, Vinod, police staff Shailendra and others were involved in the operation.
