Mangaluru, Dec 14: A gruesome murder took place at Saraswati colony within the Someshwar municipal council limits late night on Wednesday December 13.

The deceased is identified as Varun (28), a resident of Saraswati colony. The accused in the crime is believed to be a man named Sooraj, according to police sources.

The tragic event transpired when Varun confronted Sooraj and two others who were reportedly consuming alcohol near a private school late last night. A heated argument escalated into a violent quarrel involving five individuals. During the altercation, Sooraj allegedly stabbed Varun in the chest, leading to his untimely death.

Initial investigation suggest that longstanding enmity might have fuelled the fatal confrontation. With municipal council elections scheduled for December 27, suspicions arise among locals that political tensions could be a contributing factor to the altercation, given the limited time left for nominations.

Former Someshwar gram panchayat member Raviraj sustained injuries during the incident.

Sidda , Budha or Pedda ... nobody can stop this violence until and unless we have a strong , fast track impartial judiciary system. Now all these criminals are not scared of law and they very well know how to use the loopholes to get acquitted.

Authorities do not take action when there are complaints, this is why ordinary citizens intervene and then face the brunt , if the concerned authorities were pro- active this would not have happened.

May his soul rest in peace. Some people in Mangalore fight like animals when they are angry. They lack the sense to understand and talk things out instead of fighting.

we should understand that we live in a country where these kind of criminal acts are common..just ignore and walk off as far as it does not bother you...otherwise there is every possibility of getting killed like this...brothers were killed in 1980s near Derebail church for meddling in fight of two gangs...they were carpenters and were returning from work at midnight as the house warming was there the next day and questioning fighting proved costly..
