Mangaluru: Gold worth over Rs 60 lac seized from three passengers

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Dec 14: In a successful interception, customs officials at the city's international airport seized 969 grams of gold valued at Rs 60,07,800 from three passengers arriving on an Air India Express flight from Dubai on December 11.

The confiscated gold, in the form of 24-carat yellow-collared paste, was ingeniously concealed inside the soles of shoes worn by two passengers.

Another passenger opted for a different method, hiding the gold within chocolate boxes and bedspread packets.

This is almost on a daily basis. So many may be going unnoticed and successful in getting gold without paying customs.
