Bantwal: Duo poses as customers, snatch gold chain from lady shopkeeper

Bantwal, Dec 14: Two unidentified individuals snatched a gold chain from a woman and fled on Thursday, December 14, in B C Road. The incident occurred around 2.45 pm when two thieves targeted Sarojini, the owner of Mahalakshmi store near the school ground at Azzibettu in B Muda village.

Sarojini reported to the police that the stolen gold chain weighed 12 grams and was valued at Rs 75,000. The chain snatching duo, wearing helmets, arrived on a motorcycle. The pillion rider entered Sarojini's shop, purchased gutka and a chocolate for Rs 40, and distracted her while the other thief snatched the gold chain.

As Sarojini leaned down to collect change from the cash counter, the thief posing as a customer swiftly grabbed the gold chain and fled on the waiting motorcycle. The police are investigating the incident based on Sarojini's complaint.
