Bantwal: Assam-origin labourer arrested for theft of construction materials worth Rs 9.23 lac

Bantwal, Dec 16: In a recent development, rural police apprehended Mohammed Sharoop Alam, a labourer hailing from Assam, in connection with the theft of construction materials valued at Rs 9.23 laC. The stolen items were stored in a shed located in Ammemmar, Pudu village in the taluk.

Mohammed Sharoop Alam, employed as a labourer under civil engineer Hammabba Marzook, a resident of Ammemmar in Pudu village, has been identified as the prime suspect in the theft. The incident occurred during Hammabba Marzook's absence, who was away in Bengaluru.

The stolen items include iron sheets, a jack, scaffolding, and various other construction materials. Following thorough investigations, the police took Mohammed Sharoop Alam into custody on December 14. Subsequently, he was presented before the court.
