Belagavi, Dec 20: Karnataka minister of women's and children's development, Lakshmi Hebbalkar visited union minister of women's and children's welfare Smrithi Irani in New Delhi and held discussions at length requesting funds for projects sponsored by the centre.
She requested funds for the centre's Sakhi One Stop Centre, Sakhi Nivas, Shakti Sadan, Ujwal and Swadhara house projects. She informed the union minister that rice and wheat that should have been distributed to Anganwadis under the ICDS project has not been released for the last one year and requested for their early release.
Minister Lakshmi also requested the union minister to approve infant development office and staff for newly formed 51 taluks in the state and conversion of Anganwadi centers under Saksham project as smart class rooms.
Minister Smrithi who responded positively to the requests of Laksmi Hebbalkar directed officials to provide a report and release the funds immediately.
State women's and children's development department secretary JC Prakash and minister's special duty officer BH Nischal were present.
