Media Release

Udupi, Dec 20: Manipal School celebrated its annual day with a captivating presentation titled "Milestones: Seven Stages of Life." This event was an evening of enlightenment, entertainment, and celebration, highlighting the diverse and transformative journey of life through its seven distinct stages.

The event aimed at encapsulating the essence of human growth and development, mirrored the various phases from infancy to late adulthood. Through mesmerising performances, engaging skits, and thought-provoking displays, the audience witnessed the evolution of dreams, beliefs, and achievements across these significant life stages.

"Our annual day is a tribute to life's incredible journey and the pivotal role education plays in shaping it," remarked principal Anuradha Shivaram, emphasising the importance of holistic development in today's youth. "We are thrilled to showcase the talent, dedication, and creativity of our students, teachers, and staff in illustrating these seven stages with depth and flair," she said.

The programme was a visual treat as students took centrestage to portray the progression from dreams in infancy to the realisation of aspirations in adulthood. It was an ode to the guiding hands of educators, mentors, and parents who nurture these dreams and beliefs, ultimately propelling individuals toward their achievements.

Chief guest speech- Morning Show

As the chief guest, dean, Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Dr Ashitha Uppoor said, "“I am very happy to be a part of this annual day programme. The performances were brilliant and gave students an opportunity to showcase their talents. Manipal School always strives hard for excellence and that was evident in today’s programme which was very well structured with the unique theme of “7 stages of life’ well depicted through enactment and cultural programme.

The movie ‘3 idiots’ illustrated how each child is unique in its own way and will realise its potential sooner if opportunities are provided without being enforced. Parents need to understand this and not to force children in activities that they are not driven to do just because it is the in thing now. Today’s children are surrounded by so much information, that there is a fine line between what is relevant and redundant. Give the child freedom to opt for subjects/activities they want to pursue with interest and not force them into anything that they are not enabled to. Every activity the school engages the students in is intrinsic to the curriculum and develops strong character and values among children thereby enabling them to use their knowledge for the benefit of all.

The principal's report on various activities of the school was much appreciated emphasising on the various career guidance programmes offered to students and inclusion of social empowerment programmes that enhances the students overview and personalities. Teacher capacity building programmes are well thought after and tailored to meet the changing landscape of teaching and learning. Manipal School widens the horizon to their students on various above-mentioned aspects similar to that offered to higher education level students,” she said.

Chief guest speech- Evening Show

As the chief guest, former IRS officer, author, and entrepreneur Giselle Mehta said, "I am very happy to get connected with the institution which has a lot of energy, always in the forefront in all-round development, and possesses a social inclusive approach. Whenever opportunities are given to the students, they have risen to their potential. Meanwhile, some students will be active backstage managing a lot of things that imparts valuable lessons in teamwork.

The movie ‘Taare Zameen Par’ illustrated how a child struggling with alphabets and numbers could simultaneously be a brilliant artist. Some of the leading figures in the world in various fields have strangely enough been school and college dropouts, probably considered dull or disruptive students but it is their original thinking that has changed the world into progress. It is the contributions of these dropouts whether it is Edison or Einstein, Dickens or Disney or Henry Ford, the ideas like Bill Gates or Steve Jobs or even our Indian success stories of the street smart, that other people have to learn. A child possesses a personality beyond the statement of a report card. Classroom situations should equally take into account the front bencher and the backbencher as possessing complementary potential for the diverse roles of real life.

“As for you dear children, all the world is your stage today and every day consider yourselves fortunate to be living amidst peace and plentiful opportunities. There are parts of the world today where war and bloodshed separate children from education and a normal life. The times you are living in are very interesting and challenging and most probably you are going to be the generation which is going to experience rapid changes in technology and the disruptions and opportunities of artificial intelligence. But through it all, I hope that we are alive to the beauty, flexibility and infinity of human intelligence to do things right, that as individuals we can change the world for the better in some aspect or the other,” she said.

Correspondent and Pro Vice Chancellor MAHE Mangaluru campus Dilip G Nayak said, “The annual day is a special day in the school calendar. Manipal School is the youngest I think in the academy of general education. But I feel it has been given the same importance as all the other schools and colleges. I have been associated with the school right from the ground-breaking ceremony and now it is 12 years up and we have really progressed beyond what we are expecting. Thanks to all the faculty as the faculty is the backbone of any institution.
