Kundapur, Dec 21: A man lost his life after being stung by a swarm of bees that went into a frenzy following an eagle attack on their nest in Basrur on Wednesday. Several people in the vicinity also suffered injuries from the bee stings.

The deceased is identified as Jeevan Nayak (72), a resident of Basrur and the proprietor of Ideal Electricals. Jeevan sustained serious injuries after multiple bee stings and was subsequently admitted to KMC Hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries without responding to the medical treatment.

The large bee nest was situated on a tree behind Basrur’s BSNL office. When an eagle attacked the nest, the agitated bees swarmed the Basrur market, stinging rickshaw drivers who had parked their vehicles, as well as patients who had come to a nearby clinic.

In a valiant attempt to protect a child from the bee attack, Jeevan was also stung, along with the child. The child's condition is reported to be critical.

Very sad.We hear since some years these Bees are of different wild type .They attack humans and badly bitten wildly.Only way to save from Bees is jump into water nearby or cover your body with clothes,or light fire .Sometimes no escape unfortunately.May his soul rest in peace.Hope the baby might survive .Heartfelt sympathy to his family.

This is one of the perils that public has to face out of the blue... Dog attacks and bull attacks are other dangers for the common pedestrians... Valiant indeed the gentleman... Instead of running for his life he attempted to save a child who has long life ahead of him... In death he will be alive in the child he saved... RIP to the departed soul...
