Beltangady: Police crack mangalasutra theft case - Two Tamil Nadu-origin women arrested

Beltangady, Dec 21: The police successfully solved the case involving the theft of a woman's mangalasutra as she boarded a bus, leading to the arrest of two female thieves originally from Tamil Nadu.

Varija, a government employee, reported the loss of her 24-gram mangalasutra while boarding the bus and filed a complaint with the Beltangady police.

Acting on a specific tip-off, SI Chandrashekhar and his team apprehended Mohini, also known as Marimuthu (35), and Divya, also known as Kamachi (30), at the Dharmasthala bus stand in the afternoon on December 20. During interrogation, both individuals confessed to the crime and returned the stolen mangalasutra to the police.

The duo has a history of multiple cases filed against them in various police stations. They admitted to being involved in theft cases in Mulky and Beltangady.

Subsequently, both accused were presented in front of the magistrate in the evening and have been remanded to judicial custody.
