Beltangady: Absconding accused arrested after seven years

Beltangady, Dec 23: After seven years on the run, an accused in a 2016 theft case under the jurisdiction of Venoor police station was arrested.

The arrested individual is identified as Sharif Mohammed alias Sharif (43), a resident of Nellikatte, Panja in Sullia taluk.

Evading authorities by frequently changing his address, the accused managed to avoid arrest. Acting on a specific tip-off, sub-inspector Shaila and Anand M, along with personnel from the Venoor police station under the guidance of circle inspector Nagesh Kadri, successfully apprehended the fugitive on December 21 in Saradka, Vittal.

The arrested individual was presented in court and subsequently remanded to judicial custody.
