Udupi, Dec 25: "Fishermen at Gangolli faced a substantial loss of Rs 12 crore due to a fire incident damaging their boats. In response to appeals for compensation, the chief minister has approved disbursement at the rate of Rs ten lakh each. The compensation is scheduled to be distributed in the first week of January 2024," announced Mankala Vaidya, Karnataka minister of ports and fisheries.

Addressing the press on Sunday, Vaidya reassured the fishermen of the government's support, emphasizing a prompt response to their needs.

Touching on the ongoing discussions regarding the Hijab, he questioned the BJP's actions stating, "Has the BJP done anything beyond spreading falsehoods? The BJP seems to be waiting to gauge the statements and reactions. The chief minister, being astute, will address and resolve all issues. Consequently, we are not overly concerned," he concluded.
