Mangaluru, Dec 26: A potential incident of moral policing was thwarted by locals in Someshwar when they questioned a group of students waiting for a bus after visiting the temple and beach. The scrutiny arose due to the discovery of a male student from a different community among them. Swiftly responding to the situation, locals informed the police to prevent any untoward actions by vested interests.
The group of students, hailing from a private college in Ullal, had come to explore the Someshwar temple and beach on Christmas Day. While some students had left in their own vehicles, four girls and three boys remained at the bus stand. Local residents raised questions upon noticing the mix of communities within the group.
The police, led by Inspector Balakrishna, arrived promptly, diffusing the situation and averting any potential moral policing. Further investigation revealed that the students were all from the same village in Kerala and were well-acquainted with each other. The police communicated the matter to the parents of the students, and after clarification, the students were warned and released without any legal actions taken. No case has been recorded in relation to this incident.
