Mangaluru, Dec 28: With the New Year approaching, the district police department has issued comprehensive guidelines to ensure that celebrations are conducted in a safe, lawful, and orderly manner. The guidelines address various aspects of public events, noise control, tourism management, and law enforcement during the festive period.

Key guidelines

Event timing: Celebrations are allowed until 12:30 am, providing revelers with ample time to welcome the New Year.

Loudspeaker usage: As per the directive from the Supreme Court, the use of loudspeakers is permitted only for 10 hours. Organizers are encouraged to shift indoor events without loudspeakers after this period.

Tourist influx: Anticipating an increase in tourist footfall, additional personnel and Home Guards will be deployed, especially around the beaches.

Emergency reporting: Beach residents facing any issues are urged to report problems promptly by dialing 112.

Moral policing: Special teams have been formed to address incidents of moral policing, ensuring that appropriate action is taken swiftly.

Police intervention: Citizens are advised not to take matters into their own hands in case of doubts or conflicts. Instead, they are encouraged to inform the police department for proper intervention.

Surveillance against substance abuse: Special police surveillance will be in place, particularly in apartments, homestays, and resorts, to prevent drug use and illegal rave parties.

Traffic management: Special arrangements have been made to avoid traffic congestion during the festive period.

Udupi district SP, Dr Arun, has emphasized the importance of adhering to these guidelines to guarantee a peaceful and secure celebration and directed the police department to maintain law and order, ensuring the safety of residents and visitors alike during the New Year festivities.
